Full network of clitoral nerves mapped out for first time
The complete nerve network of the clitoris has been mapped for the first time, nearly three decades after equivalent research was conducted on penile anatomy. The findings reveal that existing medical understanding of clitoral anatomy contains significant errors, raising concerns about current surgical practice. The research stands to meaningfully improve outcomes for women undergoing pelvic surgery, where nerve damage has long been an understudied risk.
